Thumbs down How to Create a Rock/Pulp/Planet Texture.

To create texture:

Create a new document of any size.

Make sure your foreground and background colors are set to default black and white, (Shift D).

Now, go to Filter, Render, Difference Clouds. After doing so, you'll want to hit Ctrl F a few times until it looks like whisps of smoke.

Once you're satisfied with the smoke look, duplicate the layer and put the original away for something neat later on. (Optional)

Now with the duplicated layer, you'll want to Emboss it by going to Filter, Stylize, and finally Emboss with these settings:

Angle: 135
Height: 3
Amount: 100%

At this point you'll see the birth of your new texture, but it looks a bit lifeless. So, what you'll want to do next is duplicate the layer and set it to Overlay. Now merge the two layers.

Now, your texture has life, but you can give it even more by duplicating it yet again and set the layer to either Overlay or Soft Light.

Repeat this process as you see fit. The more you do, the more detail you get.

Ok, so by now you'll have a neat texture to work with, but there's more! You can add color by hitting Ctrl U, check colorize, and play with the settings.

Oh, but we're not done there, man. Remember the original smoke layer you put away? Put that below your texture layer and change the texture layer to Overlay or Soft Light. This creates a "semi-cloud over surface" look.

If you've colorized the texture layer, you'll notice the texture now resembles a planet surface. You don't have to colorize the texture, but it does add more life if you do.

From here, you can simply merge the two layers, duplicate and repeat if need be. If so, setting the newly duplicated layer to Overlay or Soft light with darken the texture a lot, so just hit Ctrl U and crank up the lightness until it looks okie dough kies. You can also re-colorize that layer as well to add flavor to the surface.

And that, my fellow BioRustiers is how it's done!

Oh, if I've messed up somewhere, it's not my fault. I'm sure there's someone around here I can blame.

Sure do! The main ingredient, surprizingly enough, is love, and contrary to popular belief, it's best served with bundles of hugs and kisses!

Ok, so I don't have a recipe for cheese dip. I lied.

But I can chef up a meal any day of the week though. Betta believe it, sista.
