i've tried to make it easy to understand and have kept it simple and basic
so any one of any level can learn the basic's of image tracing
i've reworked the tut and design and have posted them in this thread
scroll down the tread to see them there's 13 thumbnails to view

I think you have the makings of a good tut here. Could you put more info into it?
It would be great to show some examples of the different tracing styles, forms, how important engaging or not engaging the resample can be, different levels of smoothing, that kind of thing.

and maybe handy to do, is if you want it to be added to the tuturial index....you should have a different file with the text and the images. at least that's what worked for me

Nice tut you got there thought, I always asked myself hpw that should be done. Now I know!! well partially

What an excellent tut!!! You covered all the bases and showed the necessary images, as you said, all levels should be able to follow. Thanks Andy!

One way to get around the allowance for small number of thumbnails is to include all of the screenshots, jpg's, whatever, in a zip file and upload it instead of all the individual files.

Terrific job Andy!

BTW, everything I mentioned were merely suggestions, you could have told me to stuff a sock in it at any time. Glad you didn't, but, you could have!

Zip is a compression program. Most PC's come loaded with some form of a compression program. Usually you can go to the desktop, right-click, and from there you will locate something called compression. However, some of us inadvertantly remove, lose, whatever, that option for various reasons (in my case it was stupidity and a nasty little bugger). If all else fails you can go to the link listed below and download a trial version of WinZip. It is good for 45 days before you have to buy. After 45 days it doesn't stop working but, you do get those gosh awful little nusiance screens and pop-ups remind you it isn't free.

WinZip® - Download Evaluation Page

The link below is for a different compression software program. It has gotten some good reviews and write-ups in different mags. Should be good for almost all OS's. Just be sure to read the directions. LOL, did I really just say that!
ZipGenius.it - Free zip utility for Windows that handles zip, rar, cab, 7-zip archives and CD-ROM ISO9660 image files

I have tried to advoid even looking at illustrator for fear of wanting yet another program I can't afford. Now I wish I could have that too. I had no idea you could do that with it. From what you put together it looks like a great program. Good job.
