you're fingers are stretchy enough, give yourself a break!
Shortcuts. They rock! ctrl+this, ctrl+that, ctrl+x, ctrl+d, ctrl+k...you knowthe ones I'm talking about. And we all have our favorites. But that's a whole lot of finger stretchin if you use them to their fullest. Enter, my tutorial. This is so ridiculously handy, and it doesn't even need all the fancy screenshots and such.
This covers a not-so-well-known Windows function called StickyKeys. What it does is let you lock the modifier keys if you want. Then you just hit d, x, v, k, whatever. That's all there is to it.
The first time you use it, you might have to go to (in XP) Start menu>Control Panel>Accessibility Options and check the "use StickyKeys" box to enable it(of course, you should go into the SK options menu beside it to tailor it just for you).
Now, tap the Shift key 5 times to turn it on. Then, to lock the Ctrl key, tap Ctrl 2 times. Now you can tap to your heart's content and save the stretchy fingers for bar bets. Make a note, though, that you have to hit 2 modifiers at the same time(e.g. Ctrl+Alt) to turn it off. This is SO important before you make a type layer, because things will go haywire if you type a three-syllable word but PShop thinks it's three syllables worth of shortcuts.
