Thanks for the quick post of the Tut Tamlin. The house in the tutorial looks a bit too bright and too sharp compared to the one you posted in the gallery. Perhaps it's how it was resized or saved for the web in the tutorial.

I tried the sharpening effects last night before you posted this and had similar luck (or lack of it) replicating this. It's amazing how many little features are out there in PS.

Yes, it looks slightly different (less subtle) due to the re-sizing and web optimization. The images I used to make the version posted in the Gallery were huge 3456 x 2304 pixel, 8Mb Camera RAW monsters - obviously impractical for posting online. I should perhaps have mentioned that with these techniques, the higher the resolution of your original images, the better will be the final effect.

EDIT: I've now added a note to the end of the tutorial to make this clear.
