TUT--Molten Rock (Basic)
Molten Rock Tutorial
Note: This Tutorial is mainly for Photoshop CS & CS2 but may work on older versions.
1. Create a new document (500x500) with a transparent background. Press the key D
2. Go Filter > Render > Clouds. To get a perfect lot of cloud you may have to press Ctrl-F a few times
3. Filter > Render > Lighting Effects and set the Style as Flashlight.
4. Filter > Render > Lighting Effects and use the following settings:
Style: Blue Omni
Intensity: 100
Gloss: 100
Material: 100
Exposure: 100
Ambience: 50
5. Invert the colors. You can do this either by going Image > Adjustments > Invert or you can press Ctrl-I.
6. Go Filter > Distort > polar coordinates. For the Options, use Polar to Rectangular.
7. Now Duplicate the layer by going Layer > Duplicate Layer.
8. Select the Magic Wand tool from your utility bar and select the the black part on the duplicated layer.
9. Delete the part you have selected. Make sure that layer 1 is on top.
10. Deselect and go into the blending options.
11. Go down to Bevel and Emboss settings should be:
Depth: 100
Direction: up
Size: 5
Soften: 0
Angle: 120
Global Light: Yes
Altitude: 30
12. Select Contour box the settings should be:
Contour: Two small triangles
Anti-Alias: No
Range: 50
13. Select the Texture box you choose the settings.
14. Change the blending mode to Multiply. There you have it you’ve completed the tutorial.
