I'm not sure if I would use the end result for anything but the tutorial taught me about layer via copy and also about starting to use guides and snaps etc for neater more dimensionally correct work.

Excellent stuff.

Really well written and well illustrated tut. I've seen a lot of descriptions of how to do this, and yours is up there with the clearest and most useful. Good job.

Instead of manually placing the corners, you can use the offset filter. Much quicker.

what am I doing wrong?

I am trying to follow the Flower Patterns tutorial and only get as far as using the eraser tool but the program won't let me. I get the message that the content of the layer is not directly editable! Someone please tell me what I have done wrong!!! I am usine photoshop 7. Thanks anyone.

When you select the Custom Shape tool, make sure that you have the Fill Pixels option selected (not Shape Layers) in the toolbar at the top of the screen.
