Cool and very handy guide to turning photos into drawings. Nice to have four options to play around with. I found a slightly different way of doing it and it was by mixing two tutorials from BioRUST together. I used the 'INVERTED BLUR' method first (quick and gets good results) and then I used the methods described in CLEANING SCANNED LINE ART (http://www.biorust.com/tutorials/detail/199/en/) to refine the image further.
The end result was superb.
Another superb tutorial!!

Smile What filter other service using?

Hi guys,
This is cool, man. But do you guys have any idea what filter in photoshop or technique this website using Sketch My Photo - Free instant photo to pencil sketch conversion ?
It can convert photo to sketch so fast. I really wonder why? It is good if you all can introduce a few free software to me which i can install it locally for batch conversion.

Looks like they might be using something like Redfield's Sketch Master or Alien Skin's Snap Art (although the conversions look a little "blocky" in the examples on that site). Neither of these filters are free, but I think you can download demo versions:

Photo to Sketch Plug-in: Sketch Master, Photo Art Software

Snap Art

I love the third technique, I have been able to take pictures that I thought were lost hope and add the technique to them and they look wonderful. So thank you so much for this.

Are you sure you're setting the Blending Mode correctly?
Also, when trying the method described in Fig. 06, the color only affects gray pixels. Black and white pixels are not affected. You could use Levels on the Drawing layer, adjusting the white point on the bottom slider to get rid of the absolute white pixels, making them light gray. This would allow the color layer to affect more of the image.
