Read the tut. Load the built-in Special Effects gradient set as described. This contains 5 gradients - the last one is Russell's Rainbow.

If you enable Large List or Small List in the Gradient presets menu, you'll see the names listed (see attachment)

I looked and followed the steps, but I do not have the special effects gradient, all of my preset folders were empty. So is there a way I can get it and add it to my presets?

ALL of your Preset folders are empty??

So you have nothing at all in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop xxx\Presets\Gradients (where xxx is your version of Photoshop)?

Nope, nothing in the folder, well except for a couple things I downloaded and added yesterday.

OK then, I suppose I have to ask the obvious questions:

Is this a legal, licensed copy of Photoshop?
If so, what version?
Did you install to the default location with all the default settings?

It is a legal version of CS3. But it is a student licencing on it. So maybe that is the issue.

As far as I know there's no difference between a student licensed version and a regular one. Do you have any of the other default presets (Brushes, Styles, Custom Shapes etc.)?

Another thing you could try: have a look in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Presets (where username is your Windows account name), which is another location your default presets could have been installed.

I have a presets folder with sub folders for brushes, gradients, styles, etc. but they where empty, and only have in them, what I have added.

Very strange - I've never come across this sort of problem before. How about re-installing Photoshop?

Hmmmmm...... well its not just photoshop, I have the design suite. Maybe the suites don't have the extra stuff attached to be loaded, like the just photoshop disc does. Is there a way for someone to send the file to me so I can use it?
