Question adding color to flame layer?

when editing colour as described above, the colour is only changed at in background layer but not in the flame layer.
any idea why?

Hmm.

Well the only thing I can think is, The color balance layer must be above the flame layer to work properly, as it colors in every layer below it. When making your color balance layer make sure the you have the Flame layer selected.

Smile Indeed

Agreed, flames are usually a pain to work with, but after doing it a few times I can make a good fire in 2 mins or less. so much fun to fool around with.

The instructions are fairly self-explanatory. What bit do you need expanding upon? I'll be more than happy to offer you a bit more assistance if you need it.

Help please?

What thumbnail do you click on to the left of the flames layer? Do I click on the pic itself or one the two smaller icon looking things (the eye or paintbrush)? If I click on the pic itself and hold ctrl and left-click it selects the whole picture, but when I go to inverse the selection it tells me Warning: no pixels were selected.

Also, what exactly does this mean?: "Create a new layer on top of your background stock layer, make it active in the layers palette, rename it 'flames'." Do I select "new" or "duplicate layer"???

It would've been nice to have detailed pictures of exactly what to do, especially for newbs like myself.

This is the thumbnail you click to the left of the picture.

And, you click the New Layer icon to "Create a new layer on top of your background stock layer, make it active in the layers palette, rename it 'flames'.".

P.S. Sorry I didn't reply sooner, this tutorial's a bit old and I don't check it incredibly often.
