I have done excatcly whats written in the tutorial but I end up with lots of small fireballs instead of fire and smoke. What can I have done wrong? I would be very grateful if someone could make a working scene and then email it to me or put it on a ftp or something.

I'm posting this here incase others have the same question.

1: Check the size of the pyroclusters themselves in relation to the meteor.
Open the pyrocluster in the material editor, and click on the shape tab.
Look for an option called size, and see if adjusting it to a large size will help.

2: If option 1 is not the problem, look at the birthrate on the emitter. Make sure you are putting out a large concentration of particles.

Be sure to not to over due it on either, as it increases render time substantially.

If anyone still needs help, I can e-mail the project file I have for this tutorial. It's not as good as the tutorial's version, but it still looks decent. You don't even need to worry about an image for the meteor, as I created the texture in just Cinema.

My final result can be seen here.

I like this tutorial. Although brief in places, it allows you to expand on the knowledge that is given to you.

Is there a way of viewing the render while the play button is on!?

cheers for the tip 3dead, i'd had those problems too. Also took me ages to figure out that you have to have the Pyrocluster shape preview on.

To turn the preview on:
1. Click on the Pyrocluster material.
2. In the Attributes Manager, click the shape tab. Scroll to the bottom of the shape attributes and make sure the Preview check box is checked.

Good tutorial tho! thanks
