Thumbs up Thanks for the Tutorial

Just thanking you, DuskBlue. The only thing I couldn't get was the shadows from the spot. My snowman looks pretty good otherwise and Blender doesn't seem so unattainable anymore.

Thanks again,
Ward

Talking awesome tutorial!

This is what I ended up with.

This is a really good tutorial, tells you exactly what to do and makes it easy for you to make your first 3d render actually look good.

Thanks for a nice tutorial

I'm not a Blender user. But, as I was exploring Blender's web site, I came across your tutorial.

I appreciated your 'snowman' tutorial very, very much. THe writing style and clarity were wonderful. Thanks for a great job.

tutorial help

I just got blender and am looking forward to learning. I have a problem with the winter scene snowman tutorial. When you make the cone you are supposed to select one edge and change the shape of the cone/nose. Yet it does not say HOW to select just the edge/base of the cone and do this.. it just says do it. I know it is simple, but a mountain for one that does now know how.

A great tutorial!!!

really well written and laid out. I love all the screenshots, they help a lot. A great way to start out in Blender. This is what I ended up with... But I felt it needed a shovel and a few snowballs...[IMG][/IMG]

All You Do is deselect the vertices using A then reselecting only the end ones using b the using s to make it larger or smaller

Red face

hello henryjohnson.

To resize the base of the cone select all verices in the base and scale (S) it.
You could also scale the whole cone an restrict the scaling to only two axis using X,Y and Z key. (to restrict to two axis press shift and and the key for the axis that you want it NOT to be restricted to)

Hope I can help, I'm new to Blender too.

Wink Cone

The cone problem:
To change shape of the cone you will need to de-select all other objects (pressing a-key), afterwards to select the base of the cone, press b-key to be able to draw a sqare around the base part of the cone, then by pressing s you will be able to change size...
I'm newbi too, but this tutorial is just great to make you enter the world of blender... Very pro!!!!!

Unhappy ok

I have now joined the snow man head and body (still on the tutiorial).

I have yet to see anything pink like the tutorial says. I am now trying to figure out the nose. But still haven't figured out how to undo anything.
