Smile Great Tutoral

Thanks for the great tutorial. I am just starting with blender and had a hard time finding a fairly simple UV mapping example. But maybe I just don't know where to look yet.

Just a couple of things….

I could not figure out where the seems went. The are set almost all the way around the face of the H. On front and on the back. Viewing the thing as a letter "H" standing up. Start at the top left of the "H". Moving right seem around all the way to the bottom left. Basically leaving the left side of the "H" unseemed. Now do the same on the back side of the "H". Then make on more seem that attaches the front seem to the back. Place this on the right side middle of the "H".

I did actually get it to map correctly in texture mode. But at this point I have not been able to get it to render correctly. The last 2 or 3 steps seemed to vague. But this was just because it was different from all other texturing I did in blender. It appears as though blender handles uv texture in an inconsistent manner from other texturing.

Hope this helps others.

Thanks,

Chris Lopeman

Additional setting.

1, great tutorial (I'll refer it from my page).
2, I did it with one cube only and blender 2.41 and only the top side of the cube got the texture until
- select buttons window
- select Map input (4th frame where Texture/Map Input/Map to tabs are)
- I changed the selection from 'object' to 'uv'
This let me render the image to cover each side of the cube.

Having an issue

Hi all,

I'm new to Blender and have been following tutorials to get the gist of it.

In this tutorial, after splitting the screen, the UV/Image Editor window is just a 2d grid without the extruded cube. Can't find it in that view anywhere. Any ideas whats going on? The rest of the tutorial up to that point wet off without a hitch.

where do I find UV > LSCM Unwrap ? in the UI?

ok... spent the last two hours digging, can't find UV > LSCM Unwrap.

Is it a drop down? Right click?

The tutorial look simple enough but the interface is wonky for a max/maya user.

UV > LSCM Unwrap (I think in ver 244) is just unwrap. In UV Face Select Mode, select all faces then hit U, then Unwrap.

Found it here: Blender 3D: Noob to Pro/UV Map Basics - Wikibooks, collection of open-content textbooks

With UV Unwrap, is there a way to select polys in the modeling viewport so that they are selected in the UV Unwrap viewport?

Hi,

I'm pretty new to Blender. Can anyone tell me how exactly you use uv mapping? I have done the tutorial but don't understand what the numbers that we put in are for, maybe there is someone who can lead me to a tut that goes right from the basics regarding UV mapping, anyone?

Thanks,
FireBoy

I'm stuck!

Sadly I got stuck at step #2 when pressing FKEY. I think this tutorial needs updating to match blender 2.48.

This is what happens:
