New portfolio site

Well i showed evdawg a preview of this quite a while back.

Its not quite finished yet. There are some pages which havn't been added and some work is missing. In total it has taken a week but more content should be added but it does have a fair amount of 3d work.

The splash page is my weapon of death for a 3d render, it consists of 23 light points and povray.

It is also has a few unseen works like my improved clock and the chess board if you havn't seen my new thread. Overall the work is much better than my site but hey, im no web guru.

Well just say what you want really. If you are a noob and wish to seek revenge on my ass, now is your chance.

btw all of this is .html, consisting of fireworks and dreamweaver.

liquidreality-design .Vwho gives a f*ck

The page also needs vertical centring, if some one could offer some .html code for that i would be most grateful.

Thanks

I like this site alot, except for a few small points. The simplicity and cleaness is a great contrast with the header. The nav is awesome, because eveything is right there. The red border is also a nicely placed contrast. The site as a whole doesn't put much strain on the eyes, in it's layout or color choices.

Only things I'm not very found of are:

1. On some of the pages, such as Author Info and Contact, there are big white block images that should be replaced with a white background color for the TD. This would optimize the loading a bit more.

2. For some reason on the author info page the ends of the sub-header get pushed down what it seems to be 1 or 2 pixels. Not sure why, may be browser related (using latest version of Firefox).

3. On the Portfolio page, the dropdown boxes on the Development and Wire links cover the bottom of the border that encases the two links. Maybe move the boxes down one or two pixels.

Other than that I like it, very easy to use.

cheers man, simplicity is what i like in web design. Thanks for your words. I shall fix some of your points because i do agree with you.

The author info and pages like that are going to be souped up abit when i have the time, it is mainly the porfolio that i concentrated on making, as well as the work featured in the site. Well im glad you think the design is okay.

Thanks for looking.

Dude, like the site!

Few things, the navi css is a bit funny, i dont get that hand show up on the cursor when i hover!

Don't like the black to white switch at the beginning, get what i mean? Also add a little thing on the splash screen saying 'click here or there to continue', yea?

I like that surf board sample thing, really cool!

I like the simplicity but the site doesnt really show off what you can do, add more graphics and what not to it so that the visitors will be stunned (but dont over do it).

Show them what you can do!

Well for web design, i like to keep things very very simple. My work is the main point. I really dont like overdone web layouts because they are tricky to navigate and distract the attention. Thanks for your opinion. The site isn't great i just got bored so i decided to make one.

I got HUGE errors when trying to view the site. I use Firefox, btw

I just had to give up and close the tab out. I got neverending popups saying 'The document contains no data'

This was after I clicked through the guitar render.

What ver of DW are you using? The new MX 2004 has built in debugging for diff browsers! If you want a good idea of what your site (and anyone else who does web design, listen up!) looks to the masses, submit it to www.independent-testers.org. There's about 200 odd testers that will test your site on anything from mac to os/2!! Have a look, i use them, and test with them, and they're really good in what they do!
