New site idea

I have been fiddleing with a new site idea for my mom. Want your opinions so i can take it to the next level. Should be a major improvement from my lsast design

MY mom wants it really simple. Personally i think the colors need a little help etc. but this is what she came up with. Any and all harsh crits (bring it 5-0) are needed. Would like to bring her the best site possible.

what exactly is the premise of this site? is it personal or business related?

it would be nice to see a better font than times new roman

where is the content going to be/arranged?

sorry for all the questions...but its a very minimal start and i dont know where youre going with it...

oops forgot to add that. Was in a hurry while putting it up.

This is the front page. The main content will be below the banner and around the large willow tree label. This is a semi-buisness related site, but for the most part will just be information based. The main audience we are looking to attract with the site probably wont be to keen to anything but times or times looking font so it has to stay ( I hate the idea of times but oh well).

Hope that helps. If you have any more question dont hesitate to ask. Hopefully i can get some good crits so i can get this thing coded and running.

Its not bad, its not bad at all

Here is a summary list for ya.

Good points:

love the maple leaves and how they do a spiral. It really catches my eye.

I like the simple design of the site as well. since it will probably be very easy to navigate with no sub menus

I love you sheer honesty to pm me and ask for a beating, which i certainly wont do for your honesty and strength of character, and you will to improve in graphic design.

bad points:

I dont like the tree logo. It just doesn't look so nice.

I also dont like the grass photos, it just looks out of place in that layout

The fonts for the navigation bar also seem abit ouit of place but no ones typography is perfect

You have very good work here. Keep on practicng and improve those points i pointed out and you may have a winner. I also like the idea that you are making a site for your mom.

Thank you very much for the pointers. SOrry to say though the tree logo has to stay since it is her buisness logo, but maybe better positioning is needed. I will take your views and use them to do some touch up work, but from your crit I think i pretty much have a winner. Thanks again 5-0
