Talking [Brand New] Photoshop Brush Resource Site

I have just launched Phatbrush.com 4 days ago, it is a site 110% dedicated to high-quality photoshop brushes of all types.

I will be adding many more as time goes on.

Quote:
Please do visit the original author's page to determine if the brush is the right one for you depending on your project (if it's personal or for commercial uses) but in general all brushes listed are FREE.

Also please tell me what you think and if you have any comments regarding critiques/ improvements are highly appreciated.

~ Thank You ! ~

OK - the first thing that strikes me is: there are already dozens - maybe even hundreds - of sites hosting collections of Photoshop brushes (including BioRUST, of course). What makes your site different?

Biorust seems to be a collaboration of things not just dedicated to brushes.
The internet is too large and too big for there to be originality in a world of copy cats , it's all about who executes the idea in the most useful & effecient way.
But thanks for the comment

I think your brush site as a long way to go before you can call it a MECCA for brushes,I wish you well with it and I will pop in now and then.

Hey I understand what it's like trying to carve out your own piece of the web when there are so many thousands of like sites out there, its gotta be about the experience of doing something you enjoy regardless so don't let anyone put you down! Like the site and I've already found some brushes I'm gonna grab!

Cheers!

hey!

I think the site looks pretty good! bit busy for my taste... maybe too many "neon-like" colours that try to jump me.

but I think that is what tamlin meant. What does your site do (better) that makes it different from those thousands of copy-cats hosting brushes?

Yes, I wasn't trying to be awkward - I just wanted to know what your particular "angle" was.
Anyhow, as a sign of good faith, I've added your site to our new Link Directory.

Thanks a lot ! , I actually originally thought of using pure Adobe Flash & Flex but google wouldn't index the material properly and people wouldn't have the proper flash version and browser so it would end up being a huge hassle.

I mean it's bad enough designers have to worry about every dam browser out there

Safari
Chrome
Firefox
IE 6 / 7 and now 8 ( I think the new version is worse than the last version)
I'm sure there's more out there people use on the linux platforms that I'm not aware of

Yeah IE 8 is definitely 1 step forwards 2 steps back! I don't even look at IE 6 any more if 17% of the world can't view my site correctly (according to stats on w3schools: Browser Statistics) so be it, I really don't care!

I know about the flash problems... what you can do if you do want to use flash. Is or built 2 sites, on flash based and the other javascript/ html based. Or you can use an older flash version... like flash player 6 or 7.

Most computers have those installed and ready, this isnt the case with flash player 9 or 10... sadly that is!

Lol thats an enormous amount of work , plus I've noticed a few of my friends always complaining how their splash page gets SO MANY hits but no one will click beyond that , so he's planning to remove it asap.

And yes I agree that cross user accessibility can be a serious pain in the ass , because

guy1-lives in x with firefox3
guy2-lives in x with IE6
guy3- lives in x with no flash at all

From a designer's point of view it's pure hell , one wrong step and u can step on a virtual

landmine

One of the first "rules" of web design I learned was "Don't use splash pages". There are numerous reasons why - here are just a few:

Why not to use a Splash Page!
