VERY early site design attempt from a newbie

Ok, this is my first attempt at making an interface for a website, and is probably the first real thing ive done with photoshop.

Anyways right now its just a .jpg with nothing on it, but the structure is sortof there. The box on top and on the bottom are the navigation (e.g forums, links, home, stuff etc), and in the middle is where the news will be.

Anyways, i need contructive critisism. please, i really dont care if you tell me that it totally sucks as long as you tell me how to improve it !

not bad.. good use of gradients and pixelation techniques..

Its ok, but sites usually look a bit odd if they are 100% symmetrical (best add a small header on the top). The content window is also a little small, which could get in the way if you want to substantially bulk up your site in future without changing the interface. That said, its a good start, and hope you'll keep posting progress reports!

It's good for your first attempt m8 - nice and simple - a bit on the small side and maybe a bit mono-tonal but by no means bad

Reminds me of orange juice and a sunny day. =]

Making it bigger and adding a border would make it look crisp and clean.

And then I tried to put cutenews in the middle of it, and you guys were right, its WAY too small, unless maybe i could make my own cutenews template....

but i think a bigger inteface would be eaiser... thanks a ton
