sounds like the textures are not locked down to the surface. You are using Maya though right? I haven't tried that one so can't confirm where the setting is for that. I would look at your options for textures and see if there isn't something that binds the texture to your object so it rotates with it. Probably just something simple like that I would imagine . Sorry couldn't help more.

Hey Unleash, sounds like you are using 1 of 2 things.

The first could be a projection map. This is found in the "Create Render Node" section. for a 2d texture.
These options are at the very top of that section. the options are: Normal, Projection, Stencil

In this case, and MOST cases, you will want to use Normal. before creating a texture node (if you need screenshots let me know and I will give you a screenshot of where I am talking about).

The second possibility is that you are using a 3d texture node, instead of a 2d one. And there are different ways to handle this. Firstly, you could just parent the 3d texture node (the green cube you see in the center of the world grid in your viewport) to the object you are moving. But if your object has moving parts, then this will not do you any good.
The second option to handling this would be to convert your 3d object into a texture file. This will convert this into a 2d texture.(Keep an eye on your options though as it might bake the lighting onto the object, etc..

Side Note:

if you are using the 2d texture node, and accidentally using the 'projection' type, then you might be getting it mixed up with what you really want, and that's your UV Projection maps...which are completely different.

Those are for creating your UV maps, not creating texture nodes... Again, if you need some screenshots let me know, they would help clear up what i'm talking about.

Hope it helps.

Hej agentxi,

Thanks for the help, I am afraid that I need some screenshots to find those nodes.... I cant seem to find them anywhere....

What is happening is this: I have an object lets say a cube. And I made an UVmap for it. I painted textures on that UVmap in photoshop and used that image(.tiff) for the "color" part of my cube_shader.

Now when I move the cube, the different sides of the cube move. The strange thing is that they move in the UV thing. So my UVmap is changing when I move my object

Because of that, my textures are getting all messed up....

(I use the autoprojection thing on my polygon cube, and then I tweak the UV points)

Hey Unleash,

I just uploaded a screenshot for the "create render node" issue, it sounds like you might of accidentally chosen "as projection" as your option, and I hope so, cuz if it's not it, then I'm not sure what the issue would be. I'd probably have to ask you to show me screenshots of your setup so I can take a better look.

Hmm, strange the render nodes are all normal.

The thing is, that when i rotate the mesh in my viewport, the uv set up also rotates in my UV texture editor. So thats pretty messed up......

And because my of the rotating of my UV set-up my textures are all in the wrong places....

just for those who are following this thread... I took a look at the file. It seems like some wierd maya bug. For some reason the 2d texture placement node was connected to the objects translation and rotation...

Resolved it by deleting the history of the model. and now it works fine.*shrugs* no actual explanation.

SWWEEET!!!!

I think you might have gotten me hooked... I watch a trailer too... is this a movie on big screen? a show on television? DVD release?

I really like what I have seen. Its like a more advanced and better written anime with 3D scenes. I only like a small amount of anime because I find many of the stories and voices lack real acting and emotion to keep my interest. This seems much better production and in story delivery.

Did you try anime with subs instead of dubs? Most dubs make all characters squeek. Original asian voices have more emotion. But some people hate asia and it's languages..they are missing out imo.

Also, nice model. Most complicated thing i made was a little car. Actually, i made a video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLoBMwNIqjo

YAY! more updates

question about the design:
just wondering if you are planning on changing the model a bit further? I noticed you have a round body, and square/hard lined arms and other body parts. They don't seem to flow well with each other (or is that just me). If you rounded out the arms more to match the body, or gave more hard lines to the body, it might flow a bit better... just mere suggestions, take the advice and use them, or take them and toss'em in the garbage

Keep going with it man, can't wait to see the final product

I have an updated yet again.

I finished the mesh for the main gun. It is a bit hard to see the difference between body and gun at some parts because of the red shader. I will try to get rid of the effect when texturing the whole thing.

So here it is then.
