First Photo Shop

This is my first piece done in Photo Shop. It’s a little simple a spent most of the time on the eyes. Any tips or criticism would be appreciated.

Wow! It looks really good to me - especially for a first effort.

Thumbs up

You did do a great job! The eyes are so detailed and command attention. Please post it again if you do choose to do more work on it. And keep up with Photoshop! We'd love to see more work from you.

hey Tull,

nice work, it reminds me of the movie scanner darkly.

someone did a tutorial for illustrator, but the technique can be transfered over to photoshop with some work...

Hey that looks really good! However all I want to know (now don't take me too seriously here!) how you can post something like that and not say a word about how you did it!

; )

Good point. I started by following this tutorial. [BioRUST Design Community] :: WebIndex > View > Melissa Clifton I mainly used the pen tool just like in the tutorial but I used the transparent adjustment more and overlapped my colors. I used the freehand pen allot. I did use the paint brush tool for some shading in the eye. I did not go to the same detail as what is in the tutorial because it was my first and wanted to see it finished. I think having a little art background helped me with how to block out the colors. This tutorial is great I liked how this turned out so much I plan to do several more. I plan to very my style a little more and use different techniques with the next one and spend a little more time and smooth out my shapes more.

Red face

very strong first attempt. I just recently did a self portrait as well. Black and white so it was probably easier to accomplish than what you did. good job!
