The Worlds Last Sagacious Period skin(s)

This is a forum that I started 8 days back.

Currently its in v1 skin - which I want comments on

Going for a grungey look:

The Worlds Last Sagacious Period - Home

v1 called Logo's Naki World (anyone who knows much about Hellsing will know that its the title of its opening song).

So I'm open for comments on its design.

Also can I gain a few comments on v2 which is based off Double Cross Fool which is a bit more techno styled.

Looks pretty good, although you might consider a white stroke around your text in the banner of the v1 skin. The black stroke sort of gets a bit lost among the background.

The text is a bit on the bold side for my tastes in v2. v1 the background is very busy and makes the text harder to read, perhaps if you kept the background image from tiling it would help. FWIW I like v1's direction better than v2.

Thanks you two ^.^

I'm not used to designing more techno skins as I am at the grunge skin style Stiney - I try also though to match the skin to its song name (v1 - Logos Naki World which is the opening track and is quite grungey )

Thanks for your suggestion as well Tamlin

Nice color scheme you've got there. Definitely different from other forums that I've been involved with. If I may make two suggestions:

1) If I'm not mistaken, you can get crisper edges on this icon http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z...p/c5caa5d9.gif if you were to save it .png format. I think? It's been a while since I've gone down that road...

2) You may want to check the tutorial for making a seamless tiled background design. BioRUST.com :: Tutorials >> Seamless Textures

I think both would help you out a bit.

Chuggs - about the png format I'm trying to bear in mind IE has the tendancy to add ugly blue boxes about anything saved with transparencies in png format.

Thanks for the tutorial link though ^.^

Hey Natzy24

IE7 added PNG support so that problem is atleast partially corrected.

However, the bain of every web developer is IE6... still the most common browser in use and the least predicatble of all...

IE6 does still ignore PNG Alpha transparency, resulting in the teal/blue on transparent PNG images.

There are a number of javascript methods to resolve the issue that allows you to use them even in IE6, but it's at best an archaic way of fixing something that should never have been broken in the first place...

The CSS Behaviours hack:
IE PNG Fix - TwinHelix

The AlphaImageLoader method:
PNG in Windows IE
or
PNG-24 Alpha Transparency With Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or better (MSIE 5.5+)

Fix for Backgrounds:
Remote Synthesis: IE PNG Fix with Background Support

Hope this helps someone!

Cheers.

Very nice. The text in the banner is a bit hard for me to read, but I'm blind. :P I also do roleplay and we just set up a new forum. It's a lot of time and work, so kudos to yours. It's very interesting looking and gives all its lookers the emiance of your roleplay. WTG.

Thanks for the comments and thanks for that GoddessE. I find the hardest thing with Hellsing is getting it to appeal to people who may not have seen the Anime/OVA or read the Mangas. Henceforth leaping to far after the plotline known for the Animes and the OVA/Manga.
