I am not sure if you folks used Gimp that much to help me with this. Im trying to make a marbleish background in Gimp and a forum user gave me this,

Marble Background..

And I tryed it, I do tuts word for word so I know I wasnt doing anything wrong. The options that they ask arent in order like the tut says but I do find everything but just doesnt come out correctly. Seems like theres a step missing or Im doing something wrong. I know that majority of us are PS users but I figure I ask anyways since it doesnt hurt to ask. If anyone can help me, that would be great. Of course I could just wait till I get home and do this but for one, they aint paying me to do it at home and two.. i no more time! my kid takes up all my time as soon as i walk outta this office. Life! yes I love it! so any help that would be fantastic!!! Thanks everyone.. and if no help comes thats ok. I still love you guys.

Well, I just downloaded the latest version of GIMP (2.4.2) and worked my way through the tutorial - the first time I've ever tried using this application. I did manage to achieve an end result very similar to the one in the tut (see attached for proof!), but I have to say that the tut does seem a bit confusing in places. I'm wondering if it was written for an earlier version, and the menu options have changed a bit in the version I used.

For example, there is no Colours option under the Image menu, as the tut suggests ("Select Image->Colours->Levels..." etc.) - the Colours menu is a separate menu (between Layer and Tools in the menu bar), so you select Colours > Levels... in version 2.4.2 instead.

Also, the line in the tut that reads "Select Image->Colours->Colourmap Rotation" should read "Select Colours > Map > Rotate Colours..." for version 2.4.2

Hope this helps.

Yea I followed the tut a couple times after I posted this and kinda got the result im suppose to get but I think im doing something wrong. But Im going to keep practiciing and if I cant get it by the time I have time to use my PS at home to make this background Ill just do it at home. But its worth a try. Gives me something to do. Plus I c ould make something I really like and use it and totally not have to do it at home. So we see. But I do think that the tut was written for a earlier version of gimp. I finally found the levels and the color rotate option this morning. So anyways, thanks tamlin! I know its doable since Ive seen you done it. Thanks!!!!!!!!!
