Hey, its not bad... even though those site-entrance popups do get on my nerves somewhat. Anyway, here's some constructive criticism:

- Consider a more detailed background. I like the colour, but a very slight hint of texture in there could really spruce it up!
- Increase the left and right margins for your main text area. At the moment the gradient at the edges interferes slightly with your content (or at least it does on my browser).
- Some of your wallpapers are nice, but they are all FAR too small. Try outputting at least 1280x1024px images... or 1600x1200 if you can manage it. Us designers are pretty demanding of high resolutions.

Anyway, keep up the good work! Oh, and welcome to Biorust! I hope you enjoy your stay...

Agreed, most of them are from when I first started, there all going soon to be replaced with better ones and the user will be able to choose the size the want it in.

I've tried a few more designs, one of my current one with a few changes and a completly new one, here they are...

Current one with a few changes.

Old design with some changes

and heres the new one...

New design.

its not to bad actually.

I dont think you are ready to start selling your services just yet. You should practice alot more at print work since alot of clients only want print work instead of website.

keep at it

the second version is better. continue working on your skills, build a few fake pages (try to imagine yourself clients) to see what you can do, then ask yourself the question, would i pay to have these pages built for me?

anyways, looks nice, keep at it.

Just uploaded an updated version of my site, adding a background and a few other things, I forgot to take the services page out again ...

I've also taken the splash page off and the mouseover images to cut down loading time. Hope it looks better than me previous attempt

Thanks guys!

Joe.

Just a minor detail, but I hope you have licenses for those applications you advertise... If not, you will be in legal hell when you start selling services developed with those tools... Just a precaution Not insinuating anything

Otherwise, generally nice work. I like it.

I dont own the programs myself, they belong to my dads friend, and they are originals not copies, does that count as me having the licenses or would I have to buy the software myself?

Ahhh, its coming along well! I'd still consider getting rid of the little gradient to the left of the main content area, though, because its the only gradient in an otherwise solid-colour 'flat' design. An area of flat colour with a slightly darker colour would be far more appropriate. Oh, and don't forget the black border to the right - it seems to be missing in the version I can see at the moment!

As for the legal stuff... thats a bit of a minefield. Some would say that as long as its not in use on two computers simultaneously its ok... others define it as being illegal if it is INSTALLED on two computers at the same time (whether its being used or not). I'd just ask Adobe or have a peek on their website... they seem quite informative about stuff like that...

Got rid of the gradient as you suggested and changed it to a darker color, added the border that was missing.

As for the legal stuff I'll check on the Adobe website now see what it says about the legal stuff.

Ahhhh, very nice! I think the dark shade is a tad TOO dark coz it draws the focal point of the interface. Lighten it up a shade. Still, thats only me nit-picking. Looks much better now m8!
