Photo Restoration Project

I've been doing some volunteer work for Operation Photo Rescue - they help victims of Hurricane Katrina, and other natural disasters, by attempting to restore damaged photos, free of charge, for people who have lost everything else.
Anyway, this is my latest project and I wanted to see if you guys may have some suggestions that might help me make it the best possible restoration.
Here's the original and an early update:

and here's the most recent version:

I believe what you've done thus far is very well put together, man.

Also, I might add, what you're doing to assist others is beyond words. If my skills were on par with yours and some other artists here on BioRUST, I'd be doing the same thing.

I personally wish to say thank you for sharing your talents and letting us know they're going to good use.

Right on, man!

That's amazing, Zapphnath. I can imagine how daunting it must be to jump in a project of this magnitude.
Right on, indeed!

great job indeed!!...its hard to set there for countless hours and do something like that but i am glad that you are taking the time to help others who have lost it all.

i think Rtouch posted a link to a site dedicated to restoring photos like the one you are working on. It a heck of a task but its looking good!

Thanks, guys, for the comments and words of encouragement.
Sadly, though, I lost my internet connection, a few weeks ago, and won't be able to send that photo back. OPR has a bunch of talented volunteers, though, and I'm sure someone, there, will be able to do at least as good of a job with this as I have.
