I'm thinking the outline around the aces is too heavy. Also the black text across the black outlines gets washed out. Perhaps you could do a second white outline around the text so that it shows better where it crosses the playing cards...

Yep - Kenni's hit the nail on the head. Just add a white stroke (say, 2-3 pixels) around your type and that'll separate it from the black outlines of the cards.

Hey Chamenas...

I surprised nobody has mentioned this but Poker Hands are 5 cards... and a hand of 4 aces is beatable by a Royal Flush.... so maybe try and work that into the designs instead. If not, I'd put the Ace of Spades in the forefront...

I like the logo (image 2) but I agree the outline of the cards is a bit heavy.

I always think of green felt when I think of Poker Tables (though i know this isn't always the case anymore) so I thought maybe trying to work the green into the first image (the banner/header/ad) maybe with the white markings like you'd find on a professional game table would bring in an additional theme element.

Other than that... Good Work!

Mike.

Aha! Obviously the sign of a mis-spent youth!

More aptly a sign of mis-spent earnings... I've lost more than my fair share of poker hands... though I've yet to see a Royal Flush come down...

yea, I've played poker I put the Aces up not because of the hand but because in poker they represent the highest power (even if 4 of them cant beat a royal flush) for singlular value, and its easier to do them than a whole hand. I was only going to be 3 (that looked better) I only put the 4rth one in because I would have had no way to choose which particular ace would make it and which one wouldn't. I'll try to make the outline a little less heavy and add the white border. As far as making the header the way I did rather than perhaps a poker table, I did that because he wanted something flashy and eye catching. So while I agree that its a very good idea it just doesn't strike me as very flashy and eye catching. Though if you can think of a way to make it eyecatching as well I'm all ears. I will work on it, I'm just trying to focus on my NaNoWriMo story at the moment, I've fallen behind the word count a bit.

Well, you put thought into it obviously... and it shows in your work!

I have an idea for the header (to work in the table top) but am not sure how to explain it.. I will try and illustrate it so you can see my idea....

But what you have is good! I just have to put my 2 cents into everything. :P

He wanted a flaming logo, not my best fire work so I may redo it.
