Biorust v3 Beta
The long wait is finally over! After weeks... nay, MONTHS of delays, server woes, and creative blocks, I have finally finished the beta of the Biorust v3 design. All feedback, c&c, etc, will be greatly appreciated, but please bear in mind the following points: - All content is fake and just there as a placeholder. I am not quite at the stage yet where I can choose fonts, sizes, and colours - that will come after I have cut up the design in imageready.
- The little rectangle marked 'buttons' will not be in the final version either - its a placeholder. After this beta I intend to put icons in this space, giving users options to print, output to PDF, submit news, etc.
- As you can see, there will be very little animation in this design. This is to cut down on load time for modem users. The whole design is rather economical as a whole really, and should load up extremely quickly even for modem users.
- The final IRC box will include various hyperlinks to stats pages, a JAVA client and, of course, brief details on how to get into IRC.
- The final design is very colourful and doesn't seem to like being compressed down well - the final cut-up version won't have any of the JPEG artifacts present in this preview.
Soooo..... What do you think? Please bear in mind that anybody who say's its rubbish is likely to get their testicles removed with a spoon...

Yay... i'm posting my C+C first for this baby... well I think it's great!
But of course like anything It can use work Soo...
First off... i think the text for the side boxes (forum posts, main menu, irc stats) looks a bit squished to me, i'd get rid of the "1010101"s after them and expand the space between them abit.
Now the main menu... the white background looks kinda empty. I'd make each link in it an image that matches the rest colour and design wise... with a mouseover maybe... so it'll all be coloured in that box (but just the main menu box).
now lets zoom down to the bottom for the copyright information here... i may be being a bit pickey but move the text a few pixels down or something.
One last thing... its a bit too "boxey" for its one good i think... get some different shapes in there somehow maybe?
Ok that it for now... lets see what other people have to say.

Wow, you made a TON of progress from this:
http://biorust.com/Biorust3progress3.jpg - Hehe, the 'secret' sneak preview.
Well, I'll be doing some more c&c after this but I'll just point out a few things for now (I have to get to bed soon and do homework so I don't have much time to post).
-----
In the lower right hand corner where it says "GOTO TOP," get rid of the ^^^'s.
The wire-ish things in the top left and right hand corners seem blurry in the middle. It's too pixelated compared to the rest of the layout which is nice and smooth.
I know that isn't much, but I'll have a lot more soon. I really have to get going lol.

I'm actively working on the template now. You can check it out at http://new.biorust.com/Biorust3.html
There are numerous errors to correct, placeholder content to replace with live content, and a few layout anomalies in Netscrape/Firebird, but its getting there. With a little luck, Biorust v3 should replace the old v2 template in just under 2 weeks time (barring any major disaster, of course....).

Very nice, but honmestly, on DSL I just looked at the template and it didn't load very quickly. I had to watch images pop-up for about 4 seconds, not horrible, but thats on DSL so...
Anyway, I like it a whole lot. Can't wait.

Yipee! It works, it works! Lemme tell you, it's really really really really cool. There isnt a shoutbox (which was a good move), so i'm expressing my excitement about v.3 here. Yay! Cheers for biorust v.3. And btw, it loads much much faster than v.2.

The shoutbox was taken down due to the amount of abuse it received. In addition, the shoutbox had a lot of flaws and isn't even available for download. I thought it was a good move as well.

MusiK has one, as well as a PC. I can probably talk him into helping out later today, if needed.
