Text! It cries out for text to me. But then I'm used to seeing desktops like this made by mac lovers that will say "Think Different", "Panther", "Tiger" or "Mac OS X" on the left and have a system related image on the right- just like this one...

Yep. I agree with Yusecki. Text can spice it up a bit. Alternatively, you can try duplicating the disk several times and lowering the opacity of the duplicates to 25-50% or something. May work out. (:
