Canon 20D & New Lenses.
Seems to be the real thing. Impressive! Still unsure whether or not it fits in the niche between the 300D and 10D or if it's just a companion for the 10D. I'm guessing the former.
Also they have anounced a wide angle lens the 10-22MM EF-S
This rumour has been going around for ages now, Set to be announced on Friday if everything goes well, price tag $1600. Apparently a 3D may be announced which would be something in between the 1Dmkii and 20D.
Latest news on specs appears to be...
EOS-20D
8.2 MegaPixels
DIGIC II
1:1.6x Crop
9 Point focusing
1/8000s Max Shutter speed
5fps Continuous speed
25 frame buffer
EF-s support
E-TTL II support
0.2sec startup time
50g lighter than 10D
Seems pretty decent, I think I'll be taking a look at it as soon as its out in the shops!
Joe.

New Cameras!
Hi Joe! I am thrilled to find someone as nuts about cameras as I am! For some reason, and probably my problem, the links are coming up blank! I would love to see this camera.. I have the 10D and just love it..but, always have an open mind for the new stuff.. 8 mp would be nice.. been looking at the sony 8mp.. I have also the sony f717.. nice camera, my 3rd sony now, in the dsc line. Love the tilt lens for macros.. now, if I can just keep friends from borrowing it, I could use it once in awhile! anyway.. if you have a different link, could you pm it to me? I am on dial up.. maybe that is the trouble.. so slow..
Thanks!

worked!
yup.. that worked.. looks alot like my camera for sure! hummm.. ok.. well, as soon as you see a release for it.. let me know. Looks like something I my check out too! The prices drop so fast when new cameras come out.. my 10d will bottom out if this one is a hit.. good for folks then to upgrade! how I love this camera market.. My Sony, that I paid a thousand for a year ago, now goes for around 400! I keep em tho.. my very first one the 707, can't even find that anymore.. isn't life grand..
Thanks Joe!

I'll let you know as soon as it comes out!
I'll be looking into replacing my D30 for sure, maybe with a 2nd hand 10D though not a 20D.
I know what you mean about camera prices dropping so fast, my friend bought a Canon 1Ds MK ii a few weeks ago and becuase of this new camera prices for the 1Ds MK ii have dropped by some £500!
On a side note that I havent mentioned the 10-22MM lens looks good, seems odd that its an EF-S fitting lens though, makes it seem more consumer than prosumer becuase usually the EF-S is only for the consumer 300D... weird.
Joe.

And now I've just found out its 100% offical and a review on it is out
http://www.dpreview.com/articles/canoneos20d/
looks very promising indeed, I 'll need to compare this camera side-by-side hands on testing with a 1Ds Mk ii.

What luck! I've just completed a very painful (for a spend-o-holic like myself) saving run for an EOS 10D, and then this thing comes along... Twice as fast shutter speed, insane fps for a looong time on servo... And not too expensive either, if you get just the body. The lens combo seemed a tad cheap for such a camera, to me at least.
Cindy: The Sony you're referring to would bbe their (ugh) digicam, the 828. I wouldn't buy it, not when there's any ok DSLRs available. 8mpx is nice, but it's still just a digicam. To do a "Sprite", 'Sony is nothing. Optics is everything. Obey your EOS.' :P
Ok, now I'm being silly. But I must say, the timing was excellent. There's hardly even a price gap - not really.

TVPR,
Wait to buy yor 10D if you havent already, the prices are going to drop alot once the 20D hits the shelves, what are you doing with you D60 btw? Keeping it as a backup body?
Joe.

Technically it doesen't belong to me, as in ownership - it's a leasing thingie that I'm turning in. As for the 10D, I was going to order it a few days back, but now I'll go for the 20D instead. As said, there's hardly a realy price gap Also, looks to me this is the best I can get before hitting the 1D class DSLRs. Which I will afford, oh, next century. With luck.

As we've agreed before, the camera isn't half as important as the photographer. Who again, I daresay, is only as good as his lens
