Interesting HDR Alternative

A net photo friend on another site had used something called Dynamic Photo for his HDR work. I checked it out and really like the look of the interface plus... the latest version seems to address an issue I have had with tone mapping HDR's where it creates a halo effect around tree lines etc. and looks like it might good competitor to Photomatix Pro.

Its another Windows only app so I haven't tried it yet but... its got my curiousity and wasn't sure if it had been mentioned before or not. So if this is old news... I apologize.

I downloaded it and played around a bit. the only pic that i had at this time was one that i posted here at biorust (i took it with my cell @ 1.3 mp) these are my findings so far:

this is the original pic.
this is the psuedo tonemapped image. i didnt mess with any of the sliders. and it seems a lil grainy. but it also reduced the filesize by 1/2 when i saved it. the pixelcount remained the same.
this was the original image after a few tweeks in photoshop with only the levels sliders.

more later. thats my 10 cents.

hmm... its hard to say from that one STM... I almost like original best just because it looks more natural... however... if I were using the image to draw more attention... the DP tweaked in PS has more eye appeal I think
