Thumbs down I Broke My Camera!

I am completely devistated... I broke my Nikon D50. I took it on an outing with my job (day trip with the elderly up to the Blue Mountains) and I had an armful of jumpers, coats, handbags and walking sticks, plus my camerabag (old handbag) and as I was getting off the bus I dropped the camera bag and it rolled down the bus steps. I cried out in anguish, hoping that nothing happened, but when I checked it out, I couldn't get it to work. The shutter was making noises, but not taking anything.

I've put it in to be serviced, going to cost $300 to get fixed. 2- 3 weeks to wait. I've missed out on so many photo op's... arrrrrr .

I am looking for sympathy, sounds of woe and understanding of my anguish. It's funny, but I never realised how taking photo's and working on my art was integral to my daily life. It's such a form of self expression. I feel like I've lost something. Oh well, it'll be back soon. I told my husband I want another camera as a back up.

Just wanted to share my winge and to advise why I haven't posted anything for a while, my last lot of the church/shearing shed were old photos. I'll have to keep going through and sort out all my old photo's I suppose.

Oh no - I feel your pain! There's a lesson there though - make sure you insure your camera and accessories in case something like that happens again.

I know, I know, I checking out ebay to get a decent backpack one, the prices are hefty though for a bag, but I suppose it's cheaper than getting it fixed.

Well, don't feel too bad lmg633=... i just toasted my Konica Minolta 7D...

I have a highend Lowepro Backpack but forgot to zip it fully when a slung it over my shoulder... out flew the camera, with a high velocity thud on the floor.

Konica/Minolta has sold their entire DSLR division to SONY, so getting it fixed is a no go...

I had to buy a replacement body off ebay...

Even used, these things still run close to $800 for the body only...

Mike.
