Fuji Finepix S5200

I was just looking at FUJI FINEPIX S5200 not long ago and I’m not sure about that camera. I really don’t need a perfect camera right now just something to work good enough to take few photos in a club. I need an advice what should I do. I also spend a lot of money on one of my 3D programs and now I’m kinda broke so price is an issue.

I dont own that particular model myself, but having had a fujifilm finepix 4900z for about 6 years now, I can say it has been a reliable and easy to use little number, and up untill just now, very reliable, I do seem to have lost resolution these last few months.. my pictures just seem to have developed a whole lot of noise.. But then again my girl has been roughed around a little with red bulldust and sand, and all sorts of other nastys cameras dont realy like..

The only thing I can think of is that you say you will be shooting inside of a club, I would consider something with a hotshoe to add a flash. you might not find the built in flash completly suitable.
Although i have a hotshoe on mine that I rearly if ever use, but I only usualy shoot outside..

I guess I was lucky with mine I have not noticed too many Digitals that do have a hotshoe /builtin choice. But then again i have not heard too many complaints from people missing one either.

I like that you have full manual settings for them times when point and shoot wont cut it..

Just looking at your camera specs now I would think go for it for the price and what you want to do with it..

The point and shoot should work a treat, I know mine does, But I also noticed it has full manual exposure, if wanting ( this is a bonus )that you could use if the light realy is not that great.. just be sure to use a tripod if you need to slow the shutter down.. ) or look foward to some pretty patterns

anyways seems fine for the price to me.

The FINEPIX S5200 has got some good reviews:

I don't know what sort of price you were looking at, but you might be able to pick up a bargain on eBay - that's where I got my camera from. Just make sure you pick a reputable seller with lots of positive feedback.

I have the Fuji 5600 as that is all I can afford. It is a wonderful camera. Two things do annoy me though with this type of camera.
1 Auto-focus, it does have a manual focus but you have to be a contortionist to use it.
2 It only offers f8 as maximum!! And that really pisses me off.

Other than that it has performed brilliantly and I would recommend it if that is your budget.

Here is the link to my pics on my website, over three quarters of the photos have been taken with the Fuji 5600.

hope it helps

I would strongly advise anyone looking for a decent full-featured digital camera to consider the Canon Powershot A Series...

Price per pixel they are the best value out there and yield superior image quality to everything but the Sony cameras with Zeiss lenses.

Mike.

I’m not sure if I will go 100% with that camera, but comments given by you guys helped me a lot. I also looked at some Nikon D series and Konica and now I’m going to compare them with FUJI FINEPIX S5200. Probably I will buy Fuji just because I bought one for my girlfriend and it works really well. Thank you for all your comments!!!

5200 Owner

I have owned this camera for a few months now and can highly recommend it. The Super CCD makes a real difference and the colour rendition is superb. If you need some example shots, all of my photos currently in the gallery were taken with the 5200. The only annoying thing is that it is nigh-on impossible to use the manual autofocus feature, but i'm sure that could be easily fixed with a firmware update. Overall, an excellent camera for the money and i'd highly recommend it.

I think this class of camera is generally referred to as a "superzoom" (although it may incorporate some elements of Single Lens Reflex technology (such as focussing through the lens rather than through a separate viewfinder).

5200 is a 'bridge' camera

The 5200 is regarded as a 'bridge' camera, meaning that it aims to 'bridge' the gap between compact and SLR cameras. It has that size of a compact but with the speed and quality af an SLR.
