[quote=tamlin;36961]Makes you wonder what he would have made of digital photography and Photoshop, doesn't it?

I think he would have embraced it in exactly the same way he embraced the technology of the day. Adams was unique in that he clearly understood that the films and papers of the day could be coaxed to produced far more dynamic range than than most of his peers thought possible. His Zone system evolved from years of experimentation and the firm belief that he could move the technology of the day closer to the realm of the resolvable dynamic range of the human eye. My guess is that you wouldn't be able to pry his hand off the mouse with a crow bar. That would be tempered of course by fiddling around with inks and papers. I am reasonably colour blind and always printed in black and white for that reason. What Adams brought to the fore was that black and white could be more engaging and have considerably more depth than colour in many cases.

Cheers, Rat

My Camera

I have a Fuji Finepix A500. I originally got it just to take snapshots of my pets and friends, but to my utter surprise, I became interested in photography! Now I really want a Canon Digital Rebel and am saving up for one.

I use a little Canon G6. I figure when I get more comfortable with framing shots, I'll upgrade to an SLR.

I picked up a Canon Powershot S2 IS about 9 months ago. I know there are more professional and / or more compact cameras out there, but this one was perfect for me. Now I just need to go out and pick up some new lenses.

I use a Sony CD Mavica 5mp.
as for lenses, I have a 2x lens that is nice to get a bit closer.
cant live without my wide angle lens
my buddy and I made our own close up macro lens with some thread adapters, a drilled out lenscap and some edmund scientific and B+W lenses in a stack (got me a nice closeup of an ant pulling fibers out of a flower with it in my gallery)
and
I cant stop talking about the riflescope i made into a zoom lens
I tend to get envious/wierd looks whenever i use it.

I use a Fujifilm E550 that I got for my birthday - Takes great pictures. Also have an SLR, Olympus E-20, Which I'm still learning to use.

>I use the Kodak easy share 6.0 It is easy to use and takes wuite nice pictures.

Easyshare is okay for software, I suppose. If you don't mind yet another thing loading on startup. As for me - I can't stand it. HijackThis to the rescue...

I shoot with a Canon 20D. My 2 lenses are consumer lenses but I'm looking into getting a wide-angle and a faster telephoto with better glass pretty soon.

I use Kodak EasyShare Z760, 6.1 megapixels with 3x zoom. I felt the Kodak software had a lot of limitations, so I got an older version (7.0) of photoshop and I'm learning the ropes. I'm currently undergoing a project of family pictures with myself and the kids for xmas gifts, and hope to use a few tutorials to add to the pictures, although I do realize that as time goes on I'll get better, look at those photos, and say to myself, "Gosh what a noob I was."
