Designer/writer wanted!

I'm looking for contributions from everywhere for a new online magazine which is set to be produced monthly. No name as of yet, I'm simply looking for numbers of people who would be interested in contributing.

There are no restrictions for what can be published, write about whatever you want! All I ask is that articles/features/reviews come in at between 300-500 words and a good knowledge of English is assumed here.

Also, a couple of designers would be good. A knowledge of photoshop/fireworks is appreciated and this is a good way of building up some kind of portfolio for specific courses at Uni or for any prospective employers.

Everyone will be creditted for the work they submit. I'm not looking for strict long-term commitment, just people who are willing to write or design occassionally and see their work in the public domain.

I've got a few writers on board who cover a wide area, I just need a web site design and someone willing to produce a layout for the magazine. I'm planning on having front covers designed on an issue-by-issue basis, but following the same layout throughout.

Note: this is entirely voluntary, at present no means of payment is available.

Anyone interested? e-mail me and let me know.

Obviously this sounds like a good opportunity, but if people are interested, you should really try to get some sort of commitment that if he starts charging/profiting off the magazine, that there would be some plan for compensation.

Just some friendly advice from someone who has fallen into the trap of giving things away that for someone else's profit.

It sounds like a wonderful opportunity, and I would take him up on it if I didn't feel like I'd be overextended in the process. I may have to look for a part time job out her at my college in addition to my work study...but it is something I am considering.

Hey, I appreciate your concerns in this respect.

I'm only a humble journalism student at present, so no means of payment are availble now - and to be honest I'm not planning on ever making money out of the whole thing. This is something I simply enjoy doing, but obviously I understand the concerns you have, you just may be getting the wrong idea about what it is I'm trying to do.

It sounds noble, but I'm simply trying to help people gain experience or let them fill in some time. I don't want any kind of commitment from anybody, I just want help in making something that people will (hopefully) enjoy reading.

This is purely a hobby and as I said, I can see no way of any financial gain. It would be hard because I want as many people as possible helping out, so any share of profit (if any appears) would be miniscule. If that ever happened I'd probably look into donating everything, I just want experience for a future job out of this!

Click here to see what I've done so far (don't laugh!)

if it's just primarily graphics stuff, then I can do quite a bit of it. Though a whole website layout takes awhile. I am first and foremost a writer, but writing takes so much longer to develop anything useful with, and a combination of the two would take up too much time, time I need for other things.

That's fair enough, any contribution at all would be great.

As I've said earlier, I'm not looking for a huge long-term commitment - I have several lives too - I just want to try and get something moving that people are interested in. I got into writing because I wanted to replicate the joy I experience when reading in other people. Sad, I know...but it's also great experience for my degree at Uni and something I'm willing to dedicate my time to.

If you feel you can contribute then I welcome all ideas and designs, no matter how big or small.

If i have the time, wich i probably don't(still at school) then I would also like to write something or help designing. If I will write anything at all it will be going about 3D grapics or CGI or it will be going about sci-fi things

But don't expect much from my corner.....

Thanks for the reply, the focus of the publication has changed since the last post. We're now titled "The Music Magazine" and I'm featuring reviews and interviews with artists from all over the world.

I've got an interview with Protest The Hero coming up, with (hopefully) more bands to follow. A few friends of mine have heard of the band, that's the most famous it gets at the moment!

If anybody fancies getting in touch: info@themusicmagazine.co.uk

.:: The Music Magazine ::.

PS. We need a proper website designing if anyone's interested in seeing their work up to be hosted. E-mail me if you're interested.

I may be able to do some web stuff as I have a break coming up. However, though I do know how to script web pages, if there is any collaboration I can do that would put more focus on me at the graphics end I would be more inclined to do so.
