Unhappy Please Help With A New Logo

Can someone please help me create, or create a logo for my photography studio. I called it pixappeal photography. I have seen a few different styles that I like. Cool little characters (similar to smugmug) and modern logos are most appealing. Any help that you can offer would be greatly appreciated!!!

Do you specialise in any particular subject - weddings, children, family portraits, photojournalism, landscapes...that kind of thing? Knowing a bit about your target audience might help with creating a suitable logo.

Thanks for the reply...I specialize in photojournalism, sports, and landscape, but I shoot weddings to supliment income while the business gets off the ground. Hope that helps.

Thanks,

Mike

I found a free (nothing ever comes free) download that helps you create a logo, but you can't do anything until you pay for it. Anyway, I thought it looked nice thought I'd suggest.

Hi Mike,

OK, I took your suggested logo as a starting point and came up with the attached. This is a scaled down jpg version - I can let you have the original psd file if you want it.

As you can see I kept your original capital P, but added a brushed metal layer style - it's always good to have an instantly-recognisable symbol as part of a logo (see my avatar ). I also kept your original font and style for the word "Photography", but I changed the font and colour of "Pixappeal" to add a little informality and contrast. I also rearranged the composition a little, as the original seemed a bit unbalanced to my eye. The grid background is a little more noticeable in my version, but I could easily reduce its opacity if necessary.

stiney51 offers some good advice about logo design in this thread (Would anyone be willing to help me with a new business logo?) - what he says is:
always make sure the logo would look good scaled small enough for a business card AND large enough for the front of a brochure or on a sign
I hope this one gives you (or someone else) an idea, at least.

Yeah! The grid is on a separate layer, so it can go altogether if you want. I only included it because it was in your original image. If you want the .psd file I can PM you a link so you can download it.
