I love the energy burst effect. It could perhaps do with a little more detail and swirlies in the centre of the 'cone', but other than that its really nice.

And I suppose adding a border would not hurt, either. Right now, the sig seems too expansive. (Is that the right word? o_O) Having a border would rectify that.
Oh, and you could change the font and colour on your name while you are at it, too, make it more embellished, like.

Better?

Is this better? And, as for the detail on the hand and rod, that's not laziness, it's inexpireience.

not bad...still needs some work though...and i assume you're looking for opinions, so here's a few of mine...

the arm and wand are very much "captain caveman"-esque...they really need some work...it looks like it was painted by hand, with the wrong sized brush...that's really unfortunate, b/c the energy burst is very well done...the poor job on the wand and arm really detract from the outstanding job on the other...

my suggestion there would be to spend at least as much time on the wand and arm as you did on the energy...or figure out a way to render a better one in that more aptly represents the level of workmanship that the energy evokes...here's one that i grabbed from one of my archives (att #1)...you're free to use it without fear of stealing it from anyone...this is a personal pic that no one else has, and i have np letting you do whatever with it...

For the text...i dont know...it just seems lacking...possibly it just needs to be framed (like the sig example i attached as att#2...) if you need help with that id be more than happy, though it's a very simple technique that you can find all over the web...

The border seems to wash away on the north and east edges...i would suggest altering the border to either 1) match the theme and color scheme of the image by just adding a simple opaque white 10px border (see att #3), or 2)continue with your gold theme, but give those N and E edges a little more substance...

my 2 cents...take it for what it's worth

Hmmm

Well, I fixed up the border. And just so's ya knows, The hand and rod we're drawn by hand. And yes, they look like monkey doo-doo, but It's about the best I can do atm. Once I get better at doing them i'll re-do em.
