an old newbie says hi!

Hi there!
just want to say hi! I'm new to the forum, and I'm a photoshop 7 newbie, aging rapidly trying to figure it out!
The Illustrator tut about photoframes interests me- its great! But how do you get the flowers onto the frame? Also, how could you save the border as a template that you can drop other photos into, or batch print photos with the frame. Would really, really appreciate that information!

The flowers I used in that tut are part of the brush library; a floral sample. I played around with the size, spacing, that kind of thing. Now as far as saving it as a template, you can't do it in the way you are suggesting. Because you size everything according to your photo, one size does not fit all. Before going further, there is a way you could set it up to be used repeatedly (in a manner of speaking), save it as an action. Which is what you would want to do if this was PS you were using. I have only played around slightly with the action process in Illustrator, so I would not be able to give you any good info on how to do that. Noel sorry I could not be of more help, btw, welcom to Biorust!---bedlam123

Thanks for your help.

Thank you very much for the welcome, and the information! Did you cut and paste to get those flowers onto the frame? I thought you could have the centre of the frame "active", so you could replace one photo with another. I guess actions would be the way to set it up. And if you don't know how to use actions, then I've two chances - slim and none!
Anyway, thanks for your help, and dont be surprised to see me back with some other weird one !
Noel.

Creating an action would work well for this. If you want a simpler white border, you can open any image, apply the layer style "Stroke" - set to "Inside" (for nice square corners) - and define this as a "Style". Open any other image and click the button for this style in the "Styles" palette to have it automatically applied to it.

BTW, welcome to BioRUST.

The styles method will work in PS but I don't think Illustrator has a styles palette. I have version 8, is there a styles palette in newer versions?
