printing problem

Hi all,

I placed an psd image file (CMYK with transparency) into illustrator. I put that image on top of the black color box. Everything is looking great on screen and even I output it as pdf file. But once I print it. there is a box (same size as the psd file) and I can see the color of the black color is difference. It seems that the psd file cannot print right. Can some one tell me what I did wrong? and how to fix it?

I am trying to put a diamond ring picture from camera (remove the existing background - I took the picture on the desk), and put it on the black color background in illustrator. I understand that I can do everything in photoshop, but I want to find out what goes wrong.

Are you printing RGB or CMYK? The printer may be trying to print the black but it's not the pure black.

i already converted the psd file in cmyk, also create the illustrator in cmyk mode. does it mean something with the color setting?

your printer might have some issues with your transparency of your psd file. Why don't you try flattening the image before printing?
In your illustrator file
If you go to Window>Flattener Preview and choose the "All affected Objects" it will highlight all the objects that are affected. Select those objects on your canvas and go to Object>Flatten Transparency... Menu. Here you can choose whatever options you want, and flatten your file. Then you can try printing. Just remember to save a copy of your file before you save, so that you can go back and tweak your objects before it was flattened.

So, problem solved? Would be nice to know if what XI said actually worked, or if you found something else that worked If you would post that... well that would make a lot of googlers happy I think!

hehe, creating new verbs is pretty awesome
