Wink JPEG in Illustrator CS4

Hi I am a student. I would like to know if we can use JPEG pictures and create a vector graphical image out of that in Illustrator CS4. Secondly, can anyone guide me to convert picture of meadow into vector graphic format? Thank you.

Check the help files regarding Live Trace.

While Illustrator automated tracing is okay, it depends a great deal upon the source image you are using.

The other option instead of having Illustrator doing it would be to trace it yourself. Use a good stock photo though.
