illustrator cs4 templates question

I've got a problem- i've made a template which i saved with guide lines ;is there any way to open new file with more then one artboard with this template i've saved before???, every time i choose template and then try to set the number of artboards ,the file profile is changing to custom... help needed....

You'll need to create the template with more than one artboard if that's how you want it to open.

You could always open a new file with how many artboards you want then use File > Place to place your template on the artboards.

Or.. Open a file with a single artboard and the template. Then use the artboard tool to copy the artboards rather than setting an artboard number when creating a document.

Hmm.. when i do the place thing i can't see guides i've made before so it's didn't really do the job; the same with the other way so i guess i will have to make new template with the exact number of artboards. anyway thanks
