Help in creating a bursting balloon

Hi
Can anyone let me know (or point me to a tutorial) on how to draw a bursting balloon. I want to show a car exploding out of a heart shaped balloon.

Hi! my suggestion is: Do it by hand, and just paint every pixel, or try a plugin like "Alien skin"

Pixel painting is beyond my skill.
Thanks for the link to Alien, but the products a little too pricey for a charity project.

I am still open to other ideas.

Unfortunately, there do not seem to be any tutorials that cover this subject - either for Illustrator or Photoshop. My only suggestion would be to study actual high-speed photographs of bursting balloons and try to duplicate the effect in your application of choice. Maybe if creating something from scratch is beyond your skill you could find a suitable stock photograph and then use Illustrator's Live Trace feature to turn it into a basic vector image that you could then customise further.
