glass type effect in Illustrator

I have a client that wants a glass effect for their logo. I'd prefer to do this in illustrator. I know how to create a glass effect with shapes, but how do I do this with type?

THANK YOU!

if you already know how to do it with shapes. Why don't you create outlines for your text, and then this will make them a shape. If you keep them merged your glass effect will apply across the whole group. If you ungroup it will apply your effect to each individual letter... I think that's what your looking for. If not, please post images on what you're working on so we can better help out. We are after all, visual people here.

Try reading the tutorial over at: 3D Blue LCD Alarm Clock - Illustrator Tutorial | SlickTutorials

It shows a shine effect on a clock, but the technique is easily transferred to text and other objects!

Thanks for the past help

Hey thank you all for the past help. I am in need of some help with turning pictures of people and objects into lineart for comic style drawings, and help would be awesome. Rock on with your socks on. Keep drawing the digital age.
