Help pls.. my layers tab is missing

I can't find my layers tab in illustrator. I accidentally made it disappear though I can't remember how. I think I dragged it towards the edge of the screen.. is that possible? I've tried opening it from the windows menu and also by clicking f7. But it still won't appear.

If nobody else offers a better suggestion, you can always delete the Photoshop preferences file and reset everything back to default. To do this, hold down Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac) immediately after (or while) launching Photoshop. A prompt will ask if you want to delete the preferences file.

Hope this helps!

That isn't going to fix a problem in Illustrator, is it?

This tells you how to trash the Illustrator prefs file:

Adobe Forums - Deleting Illustrator Preference File

Or if you've got CS2 or above, try Window > Workspace > Default

No, holding the same keys down and launching Illustrator has the same effect on Illustrator.

The ctrl alt shift didn't work for me since I have Illust 10. So I followed the link and manually deleted the aipref file. Now I'm happy to find the layers tab at the bottom of my workspace.

Thanks for the help.

LOL! That's what happens when you quickly type out a reply before rushing off to work!

No, as you said, you'd have to do this in Illustrator if you want to reset Illustrator's preferences file!
