How to create concentric squares in Illustrator

Hey does anyone know how to create like 100 concentric squares using Illustrator? Is there a way do it? I know that concentric circles can be created using the Polar grid but not sure about the squares. Is there any transformation or warping that can be done say from circles to squares?

Thanks,

Prakash

There's the Rectangular Grid Tool.. right above the Polar Grid tool.

With the rectangular grid tool, it does gives concentric squares but there a lot of extra lines that connect the squares. is there a way to remove those unnecessary horizontal and vertical lines that makes it look like an excel sheet?

You want square cells but only a single line dividing them

Unfortunately no. If you want squares each square must have 4 sides. You can draw a rectangle, then use Object > Path > Split into Grid and enter 0 for the gutter fields. This will give you squares that butt against each other, but each square will still have 4 sides. you'll then have to individually remove any paths you do not want.

You could try creating two squares and then using the Blend tool to create the intermediate squares.
