noob: need advice on first vector

ey guys,

im kinda new with illustrator and with vector art. i need some advice with my first vector. one thing for sure, i suck with shadows. and i dont know how to improve on it . heheh

Not a bad start. It just takes practice. Try bringing the image into Photoshop and use Posterize. This will bring out the different shading areas and then you can begin tracing them better. Actually it's very good for a photo tracing.

I would not use Photoshop and the cut out filter. Just my opinion though. Stick to the path you are already on, it seems to be working very well for you. Don't rely on Photoshop to tell you what to do, you're already tracing a photo. With many images of people, using more contrast in your colors/shading/highlights can really help an image "pop"
