amazing book

probably the best art book. I got this one the other day, it is most excellent peice of writing i have ever come across.

I strongly recommend this to anyone who is starting out in drawing, its helping me out load in improving my sketching techniques.

The book author is Betty Edwards and the book is called "drawing on the right hand side of the brain2

Fair price too. You can get volume I & II for $25.00

That's good since you figure most books such as this cost $50.00+

so far ive learnt so much, my drawing skills have been vastly improved and i am only 70 pages through the book, lol. It helps you have a better understanding about how your brain works, also defines the difference between left handers and right handers.

Heres the latest peice ive done with the knowledge ive gathered from the book. It is probably trhe best rendering and proportional job ive ever done.

well hope you like it. You also see other peoples work from when they couldnt draw till five days later once they finished reading the book, their work had greatly increased.

OOOOh, COOL! I have the original version of the book and found it quite useful (although I never drew anything after, doh!). I'll have to poach the new version and improve my skills some more...

Speaking of books, any tips on anything relating to Wacom Tablets?

I finally got one, been playing around most the evening with it, getting used to the feel.. are there any decent tutorials on how to use the software that comes with one.

The software is Adobe Elements 1.0, and Procreate Painter Classic.. ??

hey digital, which model did you buy? I've been thinking about saving up for one, but there are 70dollar tablets, and 300+dollar tablets, and i'm not sure if more money = better results in this case.

the basic rule about wacom tablets is their size,

the more expensive the model the bigger the tablet area. If you are serious about drawing then opt for the biggest one possible some thing like A4. If you are just going to be doing the really quick sketch or two then A5 should be a nice size to get started on. even though this size is still very expensive for that size. I wouldnt reccomend getting anything under A5 since it would be to small.

I have the smaller one (not have the $150 for the largest, which was not wacom but aiptek), I believe 4x5 one, it is small, but I like it, I am just interested if there are any tutorials for techniques on using it to its full use..

It cost me $100 at Fry's.

thats pretty small digital, but not at such a bad price, since you are only messing around with it. If you want to use your wacom to its full use, you have to use it with a program called painter.

Is yours a graphire 3 or a intuos2 wacom, digital?

graphire 3

It works, and I do have painter, just am playing with it now.. getting used to the feel of the pen on the tablet.. different from ink or pencil on paper..

people often have peices of paper laid ontop of their wacom tablets, so it feels like its gliding on pap. Might be a tip. Graphire 3's are pretty good.
