Weaving a path through text

I havnt been using illustrator for that long and I need some help. I have some text and want a path to weave in and out of it. The path is just a curvy line with a calligraphy brush set as the style. I know how to weave text easily but I cant get it to work for the path. The path just goes away when I try. Any help would be appreciated.

Well I was thinking of doing that as a last resort. It would be a little more complicated because I'm trying to get something that weaves in front and behind of one letter on a few of them.
Anyone else have any ideas? Is there a way to convert a curvy line created in pen with a brush as the design to a shape?

Thanks

it's normal that the path goes away after you've added text to it. The program understands this as if you only created the path for the text, not for the brush.

What you have to do is duplicate the path or just Ctrl-C and then past the path again, but not Ctrl-V as you might think, but Ctrl-F (Paste in Front). This pastes the path exactly above the original. Voila!

If you outline your stroke you can then break everything apart using pathfinder and then reassign color to anything that you may want to change. Which will give you the effect of the stroke weaving through.
