show / hide layers in IE 7

Hi everybody,
Can anybody help with this layers problem.
I hover over a particular section on my web page to reveal a hidden layer.
It works perfectly in Safari, but in IE 6 and 7 the hidden layers have moved to
different parts of the page.
I built the site in Dreamweaver 8 on my Mac, using CSS.

It would help if you provided a link to an example. Sounds like you may be absolutely positioning things. Thanks!
