can image overlap 2 divs in CSS?

Hi ~ I am brand new to this community and fairly new to CSS. Sorry if this question has already been asked somewhere but could not find one if so. I have a CSS layout with header, footer & 2 col's. I want the logo to sit on the upper left of the page - half way on the header and half way on the left column, so overlapping those 2 divs. Is there a way to do this? Thanks for any help in advance!

Basically you need to use a div for the logo and position it, to slice the logo into two parts, one for each section.

Thank you Jolt ~ I had read that post but didn't think it applied. Your advice to create a new div worked perfectly. I didn't even have to slice the image though. It automatically overlapped the left column. Thanks again! I'm looking forward to using this forum more regularly and networking with other designers.

Sorry, I meant to post "use a div OR slice the logo." Not both Glad you got it working.
