Telling us which email client you use would speed this up greatly. Please provide more information.

To reiterate Bub's question: which email client are you using? Outlook? Thunderbird? Lotus Notes?

Give these a look-see. I'm just assuming you're using Outlook.

Outlook Express auto reply feature
Send Outlook Auto Reply Messages <-- Shareware so give it a try.

No, I just assumed you were using Outlook. If you tell us what you use, I'm sure there is a solution for you.

Seems like you have the right server names, if you have a look at this page: POP Yahoo! Mail Plus with Microsoft Outlook Express - Mail but maybe you should check your broadband supplier, for the outgoing server name. Here in Sweden most companies changed all outgoing mail, to their own servers, for better security I think.

I just did a search and found this (now that we know you're using Yahoo! mail).
Apparently you can make an auto responder directly from Yahoo, but it's called a Vacation Response.

How do I create a vacation response? - Mail
