Would anyone mind explaining what RSS is?

I've been looking all over for a good explanation of RSS feeds. I have not found any...if anyone here could give me one I'd appreciate it a lot. Thanks

Well you can't be looking very hard... Put RSS into google and you get no less than 30 reasonable decent explanations...

However, since you asked, RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication.

Basically it's a way of website owners to share content on a regular basis.

Think of RSS Feeds like Channels on the Radio. Adding an RSS Feed to your website would allow you to deliver the content of that channel to your viewers as if it was part of your own website.

RSS Feeds are most commonly comprised of blog posts and news articles on any variety of topics. So, for example, if you had a gaming website, you may want to subscribe to a Gaming News RSS Feed and have the contents displayed in your 'News' Section on your website.

You can also deliver content to other sites via your own RSS Feed. It is also possible for people to view the contents of RSS Feeds using an RSS Reader. RSS Readers allow you to view the content of an RSS feed without the need for a web browser.

RSS Feeds are usually in XML format making it easy to integrate into your website using any number of simple tools. The focus is generally on content and not on formatting, meaning you can alter the feed to appear as an integral part of your website.

Does that help?

Mike.

Hey Neo

Sorry, your site requires plugins i'm not willing to install.

I suspect it's music oriented which infuriates me to no end... i know i'm not alone when i say that any site that starts playing music without asking me first is instantly closed and never visited again.

I'll be happy to have a look at some screen shots though if you have questions.

Mike.

Oh? I thought I took out the <embed>...o.0 Well, I will remove it and then you can check it again. Reason being, in Mozilla Firefox the rollovers and links work perfectly...in Internet Explorer none of those work, and the margins are off. I've seeked help from many people, none have had the time to help me. If you can help me that would be great!

P.S
You will no longer require a plug in to view my site. ^^ If you have the time, please check again.
