need with website

hi

i going to make my own website i only know a little bit of html
and have'nt got the time to learn it really,as i'm to busy with my graphic's
so i've ordered coffeecup software to help me "i know i'm lazy"
i can do all the graphics and stuff, but i need to know whats the best webhosting and also plan to sell stuff on the site, can you buy order form software, you know the person fills out a form to buy your stuff,

1.webhosting
2.order forms

i know there must be some other things that i've missed setting up a website and what i need to know.

i've thought about the layout of the website and just want it simple and easy to use
any ideas would be helpful

nice one andy

Hosting will depend on what you are putting up and how much traffic you are garnering. I share a hosting package with a friend and given that our sites are just friends/family sites we are able to go with a low price hosting plan which gives us pletnty of space.

Just be weary of the ultra-cheap hosting plans. Watch to make sure you have enough storage and there is no (or a high) cap on the number of data that can be exchanged in a given day. My hosting site has a cap which is fine for our needs, but probably wouldn't be great if any of our sites took off. (is use 1and1.com).

Andy:
This is the host I use (and I believe BioRUST is also hosted by them):

1&1 Internet Ltd.

They do lots of differently-priced packages, they're UK based (although I think the servers are in Germany!), and I've never had a problem with them.

Usually the limit is to help reduce strain on the severs. Cheaper rates usually have lower limits because they are either less powerful servers you are paying for, or you are part of a huge number of accounts on the same server.

I would suggest looking around. If you should be able to find decent hosting for that price. the GB and MB listings probably tell you both the monthly (or daily) traffic limits and the amount of web space that the account has.

Find a shared hosting plan that gives you tiered options to start. That way you can try a little less expensive option and if you find you need more, then you can always upgrade.

Wow, that's pretty funny. I use the US version of 1&1 hosting (a friend and I split the cost of the business plan):

1&1

Never knew they were world-wide. :-)

There are a large number of scripts out there that can handle e-commerce for you... One of the most respected ones is OSCommerce which also happens to be GNU (Free) osCommerce, Open Source Online Shop E-Commerce Solutions

What your going to find is that no matter which script you use, a reasonable amount of customization will be required to fit the script into your site. Generally, a little bit of HTML will help and definately PHP....

If you tell me a bit about your product and how you want to deliver to your clients, i might be able to make some more speciffic recommendations.

As always Stiney51 and Tamlin have both offered excellent suggestions about hosting... so it sounds like that issue may be solved for you.

Let me know if I can help you further...

Mike.

I use WestHost for my hosting and I love them. They have great packages and are always updating their scripts. They provide a wide variety of scripts to use, including WordPress, phpBB, etc.

Also, take a look at Shopify. You can set up your own storefront for free.

If you want to do your own website the easiest way to go is to use .php, this way you only have a header and a footer. Html will take you forever to keep up. Good Luck...

thanks everyone

i've given the website a very basic and clean look to it mainly because i have'nt got the time at the momment as i'm busy with work but in the long run i'll add some nice design feature's to it,i know it's just buttons and a simple design but i just want the website up and running,i've found a very good program for doing a picture gallery,it's worth checking out and very simple to use you can download it for a 30 day free trail it's called coffee photo gallery "flash photo gallery" Free Web Design & Flash Software Downloads - CoffeeCup Software

what is the best way to save an image for the web,i've had to create the whole design on one template on photoshop, because when i tried to load a single image in but it had bits of white around it,but when i test it in my browser
it looks fine.

some of my flyer's that i create range from 150mb to 2 gb so would it be best to send them to the custmor's by place's like stuff it that can handle file's that size

is the standard webpage size 600 pixels by 500 pixels
as i created my design on a a4 size template "landscape"

the home page for the site i know it's simple and lacks any real design but i 'll do that at a later date "with the very sad motto "we are the cheapest graphics design company on the internet"

thanks andy
