See Through Background // Transparent..

Ok so, instead of making it transparent, I thought it would be a little classier or nicer if I can make a see through background. Like a light white opaque background so that you can see my page background but see the words more clearly. If you look in FF you can read the words but where theres dark purple its readable but not. How can I accomplish this? Thanks in advanced..

Works fine in FF and IE for me (IE v.6.0).

Maybe if you post a link to your site we can be of more assistance.

Mike.

in IE is it see through where you can see my background through the iframe?
the background is on FACE IT PERMANENT MAKE UP CENTER FACIAL SALON & SPA on the 'About Our Company' page and under the Permanent Make Up Box the 'Information' page and it should be on the page when you first go on the site and you havent clicked any links. when you first go on the site..

Im not sure what version of IE I have, I figured id try and upgrade IE but I dont even know where to start because before they had a scan thing to tell you what version you have and if you should upgrade.. what should I do?

Thanks guys
let me know if you still cant understand me..

To find out your version of IE just go to Help / About Internet Explorer and the version will be beneath the MIE logo...

As for the transparency issue:

I think you need to add the TRANSPARENT tag to the background definition to get IE to allow Transparencies...

background: transparent url(whiteback.gif);

That should work.

I also noticed the example detects IE6 and applies different CSS for the division that has transparency... i didn't spend enough time to figure out exactly why, but it looks like positioning and the different CSS has nothing to do with the issue at hand.

Hope this helps...

Mike.

Does this help at all?

ALLOWTRANSPARENCY Attribute | allowTransparency Property (FRAME, IFRAME)

Thanks tamlin & notjustgraphics it worked. I had to add the allow transparency and it works!! Youd figure that it was pretty easy and which it was, but I thought the allowtransparency wouldnt have worked because I was looking for an opaque background.. but it works.. WOOHOO!!! yay!!! thanks guys
